THE 2026 IAPL COLLOQUIUM IN PARIS IS COMING!

This issue of the IAPL Procedural Reporter presents forthcoming initiatives and recent developments within the International Association of Procedural Law. It announces the 2026 IAPL Post-Doctoral Summer School in Lucca on Re-Shaping Civil Justice: Towards a Justice with a Human Face and the 2026 IAPL Colloquium in Paris devoted to Judicial Dialogue and the Role of Precedent in Environmental Justice. The issue also reports on significant academic activities involving IAPL members worldwide, highlights recent publications in procedural law, and provides updates on Association news, including new memberships and messages from the Secretariat.
Forthcoming IAPL Events
The issue announces the 5th edition of the IAPL Post-Doctoral Summer School, to be held in Lucca from 3 to 5 June 2026, dedicated to Re-Shaping Civil Justice: Towards a Justice with a Human Face. Building on the legacy of the 1977 IAPL World Congress in Ghent, the Summer School focuses on humanising civil justice, access to justice, quality of adjudication, and classic texts in procedural law. The issue also launches the Call for Papers for the 2026 IAPL Colloquium in Paris (28–30 October 2026), hosted by Sciences Po, on Judicial Dialogue and the Role of Precedent in Environmental Justice, including information on the Marcel Storme Prize.
Forthcoming Events
The Reporter highlights the 2nd Ibero-American Congress of Civil Procedural Law, held in memory of Piero Calamandrei and Eduardo Couture, marking the 70th anniversary of their passing and continuing the tradition of comparative dialogue within the Ibero-American procedural law community.
IAPL Members in Action
The issue reports on the inauguration of the European Civil Justice Centre at Erasmus University Rotterdam, outlining its mission to advance research, training, and policy impact in European civil justice. It also presents the launch of the Brazilian project Grandes Processualistas da História, dedicated to preserving the intellectual legacy of leading procedural scholars, and covers the Sino-Japanese Conference on Civil Procedure Law held in Tokyo, focusing on group litigation and public interest litigation.
Publications and Research Updates
The Reporter showcases recent books and edited volumes authored or edited by IAPL members, addressing key themes such as European civil procedure, public justice policies, general theory of process, evidentiary immunities, procedural agreements, judging and the judiciary, transnational litigation, and the historical development of civil procedure. Association News
The issue welcomes new IAPL members, announces the availability of an open-access classic in labour procedural law, includes messages from the Secretariat regarding the temporary version of the IAPL website and future publications, and marks the forthcoming 80th birthday of Professor Athanassios Kaissis with the announcement of a celebratory colloquium in Heidelberg.
