2023 IAPL SUMMER SCHOOL - 4th edition

Fondée en 1982, l’IAPL a commencé comme un réseau novateur d’avocats européens dédié à la collaboration transfrontalière. Aujourd’hui, nous sommes devenus une alliance mondiale, réunissant des professionnels du droit du monde entier.

Under the scientific direction of Professor Soraya Amrani Mekki, the 2026 IAPL Colloquium will take place in Paris from 28 to 30 October 2026, and will be devoted to the theme of Environmental Justice.
The opening session will be held at the Cour de Cassation in the presence of its First President. Laurent Fabius —former Prime Minister, current President of the Constitutional Council, and chief negotiator of the Paris Agreement — will also attend, subject to confirmation.
The rest of the Colloquium will take place at Sciences Po Paris’s Saint-Germain-des-Prés campus, coinciding with Paris Climate Week.
Over the two-day conference, participants will explore the following topics in depth:
- The concept of “parties to the proceedings”
- Identification of the court having subject-matter jurisdiction
- The evidentiary challenge
- Alternatives to court
- Remedies
- Judicial rulings on environmental matters
A call for papers will soon be announced, along with a workshop designed to address a common practical case from the perspective of different legal systems.
On this occasion, the IAPL Storme Prize will be awarded.
Following the closing ceremony on 30 October, the traditional Gala Dinner will offer a unique opportunity for discussion, networking, and celebration.
We are thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the 5th IAPL Post-Doctoral Summer School, dedicated to the theme:
“Re-Shaping Civil Justice: Towards a Justice with a Human Face”.
The IAPL Summer School brings together outstanding post-doctoral researchers – and PhD candidates in their final stage – working in the field of civil justice from all over the world.
It is a unique opportunity for intellectual growth, international exchange, and for strengthening the next generation of scholars in our discipline.
Application deadline: 15 February 2026

L’International Journal of Procedural Law (IJPL), multilingue, offre une plateforme de recherche internationale pour les universitaires et praticiens dans le domaine du droit procédural, en particulier en matière civile.
En plus des articles en cinq langues examinant les évolutions récentes en matière judiciaire et de résolution alternative des conflits, l’IJPL publie également des articles consacrés aux fondements théoriques du droit procédural. Les contributions abordent des questions juridiques sous des angles nationaux, transnationaux ou internationaux, incluant le droit comparé et les aspects des conflits de lois. Par conséquent, l’IJPL intéresse non seulement les chercheurs mais aussi les praticiens traitant des affaires transfrontalières.

Comparative Procedural Law and Justice (CPLJ) est un projet mondial sur la justice civile comparée, organisé par l’ancien Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law et soutenu par le Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg FNR (FNR - O19/13946847).
Officiellement lancé en septembre 2020, il a constitué le projet de recherche phare du Département de droit procédural européen et comparé du Max Planck Institute Luxembourg. En janvier 2024, le Max Planck Institute Luxembourg et le CPLJ ont été transférés à l’Université du Luxembourg.
Burkhard Hess a été le directeur fondateur du Max Planck Institute for Procedural Law, où le CPLJ a été initialement lancé. Depuis septembre 2024, il poursuit le projet en tant que rédacteur en chef depuis sa nouvelle chaire et avec l’assistance de son équipe à l’Université de Vienne.
